At this age level all teams are entered into the Edmonton Minor Soccer (EMSA) Community Program.
Program placement is based on a first come/first served basis with team placement based on requests by the majority. When there is more than one Fort Saskatchewan team in a particular program there will be player assessments in order to equalize/balance teams' skill level at the beginning of the season.
Games schedules are determined by EMSA. League information is also subject to changes by EMSA.
At registration U16 players can indicate if they wish to tryout for a Tier 3 team playing in Edmonton (EMSA) Tier 3 League. Placement on Tier 3 teams is by tryout. Players interested in Tier 3 must register for community soccer and also for Tier 3 tryouts. Any player not present for tryouts or who doesn't make the Tier 3 cut will play community.
Additional fees and practices apply to Tier 3. Players in Tier 3 are expected to have a higher level of commitment than the Community programs. Players must attend one game and two practices per week.
Edmonton (EMSA) Community League
EMSA re-pools all teams twice during the season to ensure that competing teams are of a similar skill level.
Teams are then placed into tiers from 4 through 9. The third round of games also includes the ability for all teams to compete for a place in the Edmonton City Finals around the end of February in whatever tier the team happens to end up playing in.
Play in the EMSA Community League as a guest team.
Edmonton (EMSA) Tier 3 League
Tier 3 teams require greater commitment to games and practices than do the community teams. Tier 3 players will be expected to attend extra practices and all games. Tryouts, extra practices and extra fees apply to the Tier 3 Program. Tier 3 players/teams will have additional fees (for practices and league fees) which will be collected when the teams are finalized.
Youth Tier 3 teams will be offered if, during the registration process, there is enough player and coach interest for these programs.
There will be tryouts at the levels at which have sufficient registrations to offer Tier 3.
