The outdoor season starts the first week of May (weather and field conditions permitting) and finishes with our Junior Jamboree, June 24.
Our U5 teams play on Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 - 7:00 pm at the Turner Park fields
All parents must stay and watch while their children are playing on the fields.
All U5 players must wear outdoor soccer cleats, shorts, shin pads and socks which cover their shin pads. T-shirts will be provided to each player.
For their safety players are not allowed to wear any jewelry (earrings, bracelets, headbands, etc.) during games or practices. Taping of jewellery is not sufficient to prevent player injury.
U5 Program Description :
All U5 sessions will be in Fort Saskatchewan. We are following Alberta Soccer and Canada Soccer in running the Grassroots Program. We are teaching age appropriate basic fundamental movement skills. The emphasis is on having fun while learning the basic physical literacy skills. Information on the ASA Grassroots program can be found at Festival Play (PTM) - Alberta Soccer
ASA believes that players at this age level benefit more from learning soccer basics by keeping all players engaged by more ball touches. The ASA grassroots plan is to have no teams at these age levels.
Each group will be rotating through four stations which are:
Each station is 12-15 min to ensure maximum ball touches for each player.
The City of Fort Saskatchewan will provide rain out information on their website - click here. Sports fields are maintained by the City of Fort Saskatchewan and the City determines when the fields are open for the soccer teams.
